Here are our top tips for launching your property on the market in Spring

Spring is right around the corner, which means many prospective property sellers are preparing to put their homes on the market. The sun starts to shine, the birds start to sing and our gardens start to come to life. What better time to think about selling?

See below for our Spring Property Selling checklist to ensure you’re ready for the next chapter in your property journey: 

First, we need to make the most of the sunshine and ensure your gardens are fit for the birds to sing: 

1. Elimination of winter weeds is pivotal in bringing the spring air to life. Get your hands on some weed killer or make a call to your local gardener, and fast! 
2. Bring in a pop of colour (or two) with florals and bright native plants. What better way to liven up the garden beds than with some pops of colour to entice the birds, bees and buyers?
3. Get on top of the dark spots on the lawn. While the rain during winter does wonders for your grass, it does make it tougher to get out there and maintain your lawn’s routine. Once the weather warms up, there’s no excuse to not get out there and bring the lawn back to life! If you struggle to maintain the grass, perhaps things will be greener on the other side with some fake turf alternatives. 

Next, your paint job might need some TLC!

1. Make note of any nicks or scratches on the walls, skirting, doors, and everything in between and get to work on covering them up. 
2. They say a fresh coat of paint can rejuvenate your property, and we tend to agree. Did you know that a fresh coat of paint has the best visual impact per dollar spent when it comes to valuing a property? 

Time to get handy!

1. Now’s the time to work through all of those handy items you’ve been putting off in the miserable weather. Sort out the squeaky doors, get the screwdriver out for loose hinges and latches and replace the towel rack in the guest bathroom that’s falling apart. 

Ignite an extra spark

1. Now’s the time to test all of the light switches and power points in the property and get to work! It can be easy to neglect the rooms that you rarely use and let them go dark, but one thing potential buyers want to see when walking through a home is that the basics are still in working order. 
2. While you’re at it, when was the last time your smoke detectors were tested? There’s no better time to check than the present, even if you’re not planning on selling – safety is everything.
